The Library
The Library at the Aarhus School of Architecture is a research library open to the public.
Permanent residents of Denmark and foreign citizens carrying a valid student registration card from a Danish institution of higher education can be admitted as a borrower on presentation of their social security card or other valid ID. The social security card is used as a library card.
Upon admission, the borrower commits to adhering to the existing regulations
Responsibilities of the Borrower
Whoever is charged for a loan is personally liable for the borrowed material and is responsible for its return to the library in undamaged condition.
If the social security card is stolen or lost, the holder of the card must report this to the Library immediately in order to avoid abuse of the card.
It is the responsibility of the borrower to inform the Library of changes in adress and e-mail adress, just as it is the borrower’s responsiblity to settle accounts before permanent departure or lengthy periods of abscence.
Loan period
The loan period is 1 month for books, and two weeks for DVD/videotapes and journals. DVD’s are only available for loan by students and staff of the Aarhus School of Architecture.
Books from the reference collection, current volumes of journals, and particularly rare or valuable items are usually unavailable for loan.
Loans may be renewed up to 6 times, unless the material is reserved by another borrower (up to 8 times for teaching and researching staff)
Highly sought-after items may, at times, have a reduced loan period of only 14 days.
Books and journals obtained from other danish or foreign libraries intended for loaning are subject to the present regulations plus any further regulations laid down by the library providing the material.
Fees and exclusion
If materials are not returned on time a fee must be paid. The size of the fee is determined by the date of return for the material. If multiple materials are returned late either at different times, or with different dates of return (see the reciept for the loans), fees for every single date of return are charged.
Fees are determined as follows:
Return date overdue | Fee charged | If overdue | 20 DKK | More than 7 days overdue | 50 DKK | More than 30 days overdue | 75 DKK | More than 30 days overdue | 75 DDK + Price of re-acquisation | Claims on material more than 3 months overdue, will be passed on to the incasso service of The Danish Agency for Governmental Management | As above + a fee to The Danish Agency for Governmental Management |
For library users with an e-mail, a reminder will be sent out three days before the loan period expires.
For lost or damaged material that has not been recalled, only the price for re-acquisation must be paid.
If a borrower owes more than 200 DKK or repeatedly fails to return borrowed material, the borrower may be excluded from the library at one weeks notice.
Exclusion is lifted on payment of fees.
