ALL students attending a programme at the Aarhus School of Architecture must pass a selection committee evaluation of their application. Admission is competitive, and we require the following:
- A completed Full Degree/ Student/Exchange Student/Guest Student application form
- Your most recent transcript or diploma
- A CV
- A one page personal statement
- Language test documentation (only for full-degree and guest students)
- References if any
- A recent portfolio.
IMPORTANT! Please note that the portfolio must be in either A4 or A3 size (PDF format) not exceeding 30 pages and 15 mB. It must be easily readable, and an introduction to the presented projects etc. is mandatory. The portfolio is crucial to the entire evaluation of your application, and will determine whether you are admitted or not.
Please note that we are an architecture school with a focus on the artistic aspects of Architecture. This Means that we are not only interested in the final projects you have completed, but to a very high degree the process of how you reached the project result. Your portfolio must reflect your command of small and big scale. If the Projects are Group Projects, or a project you worked on while connected to a Company (either as an employee or intern), your particular contributions should be clearly noted.

Scandinavian/Nordic students NOT currently admitted to the Aarhus School of Architecture MUST apply for admission by the February 1st deadline!
Why do I have to both fill in the electronic contact card AND the application form?
We need to application form, with your signature stating that all information given, is correct. The electronic contact card is YOUR assurance, that we get your e-mail address etc. right, avoiding mails lost in cyberspace.
Is it really necessary to send the the whole application electronically?
Yes, it really is!
I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor program and not able to enclose a Bachelor Diploma. Can I still apply?
Yes! If approved by the selection committee, you will receive a conditional admission pending the reception of the Bachelor Diploma prior to your Program start here.
I cannot supply a language test score result by the deadline. Can I still apply?
Yes! Please see the answer to the question above, the same criterions apply.
What are my chances to be accepted?
Difficult to say. The rejection rate over the past years has been around 80 to 85 %. We do not accept a specified number of applicants, so being more precise is difficult as we do not know in advance how many will apply.
It is YOUR responsibility that the portfolio reach us in due time, and we cannot be made responsible for any delays due to technical problems or problems with the regular mail service. Failure to comply with these instructions or deadlines may cause an application not reaching us in time, and thus being rejected.
